Meriden City Manager Resigning After ‘Police Incident’
The City Council held a special meeting after City Manager Timothy Coon's second incident with police within the past year.

MERIDEN, CT — Meriden City Manager Timothy Coon is resigning after a second incident with police within the past year, according to multiple reports.
FOX 61 reports the City Council announced at a special meeting Monday night that Coon had filed for resignation and will be on paid medical leave until Jan. 1. His resignation is effective Jan. 1.
Officials announced late last week that the special meeting would be held after city leadership and the City Council became aware of a “police incident” involving Coon.

Police forced entry into his apartment when he couldn’t find his key, according to the Record-Journal.
Coon had been placed on administrative leave earlier this year after being charged with DUI in connection with a wrong-way crash in Wethersfield.
Coon was arrested after state police said he was driving northbound in the southbound lanes of Route 3 around 1:50 a.m. on April 26, and crashed when trying to enter the off-ramp onto Route 2, the Record-Journal previously reported.
Coon remained in his position, and the City Council unanimously voted to extend his contract by two years in August, according to the Record-Journal.
