These funds were raised through Connex’s Coins-for-Change program.

As part of its ConnexCares philanthropic initiative, Connex Credit Union recently donated more than $650 to enhance educational materials and programs provided to North Haven youth through North Haven Education Foundation, Inc. This contribution is the result of participation in the credit union’s Coins-for-Change program by visitors to its Meriden branch during the first quarter of 2017.

The North Haven Education Foundation encourages academic excellence by funding projects and initiatives for students and the community designed to extend learning opportunities beyond the conventional budgeting resources of the school system.

“We would like to thank Connex Credit Union for extending this fundraising opportunity to the North Haven Education Foundation, as we know there are many worth organizations seeking their generosity,” said Bernard Pellegrino, chairman, North Haven Education Foundation, Inc. “These funds will be used to enhance the technology systems in our four elementary schools and help better prepare our younger students for the technological learning tools they will encounter across all academic fields in our middle school and high school programs.”

The Coins-for-Change program charges a five percent fee to members, and a seven percent fee to non-members, to use Connex’s coin-cashing machines. Each fiscal quarter, 100 percent of this money is donated to different charitable organizations in the local community, contributing more than $13,000 annually.
