Meriden Manufacturer Bought Out, Plant To Close

A Meriden manufacturing plant will close next month and employees are facing layoffs.

MERIDEN, CT — Meriden business Miller Co has been acquired and new ownership will close the company's plant on Pratt Street in September, according to The Meriden Record-Journal. About 35 employees received layoff notices.

Wieland, a global brass and copper supplier, bought out the company. Miller Co was established in 1844 and at one time employed hundreds of workers in the downtown area.
