Meriden Police Seeing Increase in Gang Violence
The arrest of a self-described gang member over the weekend is shedding some light on the problem.

MERIDEN, CT - The city's police department is grappling with a recent uptick in gang-related violence, writes the Meriden Record-Journal.
The situation has been growing over recent months, reportedly between members of the rival Bloods and Crips gangs, according to police.
Over the weekend, the officers arrested 18-year-old Meriden resident Dejour Ford, a self-described gang member, after he allegedly fired a gun at a home on Springdale Avenue. No injuries were reported, and Ford was charged:

Saturday's incident is the third shooting in the city in recent weeks, which have prompted an increase in patrols in certain downtown neighborhoods.
