Meriden Shooting Suspect Extradited Back to State from Virginia

Deon Camp was wanted in connection with a May 2 drive-by shooting.

MERIDEN, CT — Bristol resident Deon Camp, 23, was extradited back to Meriden today, July 29, after being apprehended on July 20 in Richmond, VA, on an outstanding warrant in connection with a May 2 shooting in the city.

Camp is the alleged trigger man in a drive-by shooting on Willow Street where a male victim was seriously wounded suffering head and neck injuries.

Subsequently, Camp had been on the run from Meriden police ever since, eventually fleeing Connecticut. The circumstances surrounding Camp's apprehension in Virginia were not immediately available.

Camp is scheduled to be arraigned today on charges of Assault in the First Degree, Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm, Reckless Endangerment in the First Degree, and Criminal Possession of a Firearm.

He is being held in lieu of a $500,000 bond.
