More CT Jobs Lost: 500 Verizon Jobs to Move Out of State, Meriden
The telecommunications and internet giant is closing customer service call centers in Meriden and Wallingford next year.

MERIDEN, CT — Verizon is closing two two customer service call centers in Connecticut next year - in Meriden and Wallingford - which will result in more than 500 jobs leaving the state, the latest in a trend of jobs exiting Connecticut.
The workers who toil at Verizon's Meriden and Wallingford sites will be given the opportunity to relocate to another Verizon call center, but the closest is in Delaware, reports the Meriden Record-Journal. Workers will have the choice of moving to one of 15 states where Verizon has call centers.
All of those employees who choose not to move will receive a severance package inside, according to the company. The closure is scheduled to occur by March 2017.
