Mother Of Deceased Baby Found In Reservoir Identified By State Police

The investigation is ongoing.

HARWINTON, CT — The mother of the deceased baby found in a bag in the Bristol Reservoir in Harwinton Tuesday has been identified and interviewed by state police, according to officials.

"The mother, identified as a Connecticut resident, has come forward and spoken with State Police Western District Major Crime Detectives," wrote officials in a statement. "The mother, whose name is being withheld at this time, has also been provided necessary medical care at a local hospital.

"[Her child] has been identified as a baby boy, born approximately 1-2 weeks ago."

The infant was discovered at about 10:40 a.m. in the reservoir, which is located on Route 72 and Route 4 in Harwinton, and maintained by the City of Bristol Water Department.

State police said the mother "is working with detectives as they continue to investigate the circumstances" surrounding the case.
