Popular Wedding Venue To Be Demolished In Meriden For New Use
The former banquet facility was recently sold to new owners.

MERIDEN, CT — The former il Monticello banquet facility and catering hall will be demolished for a new car wash to be built at the site on the Meriden-Wallingford border, according to the Hartford Business Journal.
The Hartford Business Journal reports the 2.84-acre property, located at 577 South Broad St. in Meriden and 1299 South Broad St. in Wallingford, was recently sold for $1.35 million.
The new owners plan to build a new ModWash car wash at the site.

ModWash is “expanding rapidly through strategic development and acquisitions,” according to its website.
“Opening with 100 locations projects by the end of 2023, we’re excited to be one of the best express car washes in the U.S.,” reads a post on the site.

ModWash currently doesn’t have any locations in Connecticut.
The owners of il Monticello Banquet Facility and Catering announced last June that the facility was closing after 23 years in business.
