
A fire at a home on 291 Britannia Street in Meriden caused heavy damage to the property, NBC Connecticut reports.
The fire occurred Monday afternoon.
According to the Meriden Record-Journal, no injuries were reported in the fire however a cat died during the incident.

Crews from South Meriden, Berlin and Wallingford were called to cover Meriden while firefighters worked to extinguish the fire, the paper reports. Red Cross was called to assist the residents with housing as the home will uninhabitable for a while.
On their Facebook page, the Meriden Fire Department announced, “ Earlier today Group 2 responded to a second alarm fire at 291 Britannia Street. The house is next door to Engine 4, however Engine 4 was returning from another alarm at the time and not in station. Truck 1 arrived first and reported heavy fire showing from the rear of the house and called for a second alarm. Engine 3 was the first due engine company. All Meriden fire companies operated on scene. Berlin, Wallingford, and South Meriden covered the city.”
