Wesleyan University Dean Mike Whaley urged students to check with their friends and make sure they are OK after six students were sent to the hospital Sunday.

“Initial indication in all of these cases is that the students took Molly (MDMA) last night [Saturday],” he wrote, according to a copy of the letter posted by Wesleying. “Some of the students are in serious/critical condition.”

The letter posted by Wesleying is below.

According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, MDMA or Molly, causes “increased energy, euphoria, emotional warmth and empathy toward others, and distortions in sensory and time perception.”

Middletown Police and Wesleyan Public Safety are investigating. Anyone with information is asked to contact 860-685-3333.

Whaley is asking everyone to keep the students in their their thoughts.

“Finally, I ask that you keep these students in your thoughts and share my hope that they will fully recover,” he said in the note to students.
