Man Robbed at Gunpoint at Middletown Church

The incident occurred just before 7 p.m. on Friday.

A Middletown man robbed another man at gunpoint at a church on Friday and was arrested shortly after.

Police responded to the report of an armed robbery just before 7 p.m. at Holy Trinity Church.

According to police, the victim told police he was robbed at gunpoint and forced to give his wallet, which contained $21 and cellphone. The suspect, Tyson Mayfield, 32, was located by officers on Court Street where he actively resisted arrest. Mayfield was found to be in possession of $21.

Mayfield was charged with larceny, robbery/ firearm-threat and interfering with an officer/ simple assault and was held on $100,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 22.
