Attempted Murder Charge Filed In August Shooting In Middletown
A Hartford man was arrested on a warrant Tuesday in connection with a shooting in Middletown.

MIDDLETOWN, CT — A Hartford man has been charged with attempted murder in connection with what they are describing as a premeditated shooting on Liberty Street in August.
The shooting took place on Aug. 18 near 48 Liberty St., police said.
When they arrived at the scene, officers encountered a man who had been shot in the chest. He was taken to Hartford Hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery and survived, according to a police report.

Detectives from the Middletown Police Street Crime Unit identified the shooter as 37-year-old Rondell Jackson, of Hartford, according to an incident report.
Investigators determined that Jackson had shot the man in the chest from point blank range after initiating an altercation and, before fleeing the scene, he tried to shoot the man several more times, but the gun malfunctioned after the first shot and he was unable to keep firing, according to a police report.

On Sept. 20, Street Crime Unit detectives obtained a warrant and, on Tuesday, he was located and arrested in a joint operation with Hartford police, according to an incident report.
Jackson was charged with first-degree attempted murder, unlawful discharge of a firearm and criminal possession of a firearm. He was held overnight on a $1 million bond and was to appear in Middletown Superior Court Wednesday.
