Man Unresponsive When Pulled From Water at Middletown Quarry

He was transported to the local hospital. Middletown Police said his condition is unknown at this time.

Middletown Police, the South Fire District and Middletown Fire responded to the quarries at the end of Bow Lane in Middletown Wednesday, August 19, after receiving a 911 call about a man jumping in the water and not resurfacing.

All three of the department’s dive teams assisted in the search, according to Middletown Lt. Heather Desmond.

ā€œThe male was pulled from the water unresponsive by members of the South Fire District,ā€ Middletown Police stated in a press release. ā€œThe male was then transported by ambulance to the local hospital.ā€

Desmond said the medical status of the victim is unknown. His identity will be withheld until further notice, she said.

Middletown South Fire District Chief Robert Ross was quoted in NBC Connecticut as saying the quarry area is unsafe.
