MIDDLETOWN, CT — State police are seeking witnesses to a Christmas morning crash in Middletown that claimed the life of a New York City woman.

The crash took place at 9:04 a.m. on the northbound side of Interstate 91, just before the Exit 20 on-ramp, according to a crash report.

State police said a 2007 Toyota Corolla with three Brooklyn, NY, residents aboard was traveling in the right lane and a a 2019 Chrysler 300 in the being driven by a 53-year-old Worcester, MA, was in the center lane. The Toyota suddenly veered into the Chrysler and it veered into the grassy center median and rolled over, according to a crash report.

The Toyota also rolled over in the center median, according to a crash report.

The driver of the Chrysler was the sole occupant of the vehicle and was not hurt, according to a crash report.

The driver of the Toyota, a 19-year-old man, suffered minor injuries and was transported to Hartford Hospital for treatment. A 57-year-old woman in the front seat was taken to Hartford Hospital with serious injuries, according to a crash report.

A 74-year-old woman seated in the right rear passenger seat of the Toyota was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a crash report.

The case remained under investigation Monday morning.
