CT Man’s Death Days After Police Used Stun Gun Investigated: Report

State police are investigating the unexpected death of a 38-year-old man four days after he was shot with a stun gun by a state trooper.

MIDDLETOWN, CT — Connecticut State Police are investigating the unexpected death of a Hebron man four days after he was shot with a stun gun by a state trooper during a domestic violence incident, according to FOX 61.

FOX 61 reports Ryan Marzi, 38, died in his sleep on Aug. 28 – four days after police responded to a report of a domestic assault at a home in Canterbury.

During the incident, a second state trooper who responded to the scene saw another state trooper lying injured on the ground after an apparent struggle, according to FOX 61. Marzi was then shot with a stun gun after police said he didn’t comply with verbal commands and moved toward the troopers, FOX 61 reported.

The state Medical Examiner’s Office is determining the cause of death and Inspector General Robert Devlin Jr. told FOX 61 his office is monitoring the state police investigation.
