Driver Suffered Medical Emergency Before Crash In Middletown: Police
The driver, who remains in critical condition, lost consciousness before crashing into another vehicle Wednesday in Middletown, police said.
MIDDLETOWN, CT — A 63-year-old driver likely suffered a medical emergency before crashing into another vehicle Wednesday afternoon in Middletown, according to police.
Police responded to the intersection of Reservoir Road and Saybrook Road around 4:30 p.m. on the report of a crash with injuries.
Officers determined that a 19-year-old driver had been stopped at the intersection in his 2006 Chevy Cobalt when it was struck from behind by a 2018 Toyota Camry, according to police.

Police said the force of the impact pushed both vehicles onto Saybrook Road.
The 19-year-old driver was taken to Hartford Hospital for injuries that weren’t life-threatening and was reported to be in stable condition, according to police.

Police said officers determined that the 63-year-old driver of the Camry likely suffered a medical emergency that caused him to lose consciousness before the impact. EMS personnel were able to stabilize him at the scene and he was also taken to Hartford Hospital, according to police. He was listed in critical condition, police said.
