Drunk Man Assaults Middletown Officer: PD
The man was belligerent and punched an officer, police said.

MIDDLETOWN, CT — An unruly intoxicated man assaulted a police officer, damaged a glass door and refused to be fingerprinted during an April 17 incident in the area of Main and Ferry streets, according to police.
Police responded to the area after getting a disturbance complaint. Santono Mestas, 45, of Portland was located in the Corner Pocket bar. He appeared highly intoxicated and was belligerent with officers, according to police.
He was restrained as he tried to walk toward an officer with a clenched fist, police said. Two men said he shattered the glass door of 584 Main Street by kicking it.

Mestas nearly passed out when he was put in the police cruiser and he was taken to Middlesex Hospital for detox.
He became confrontational again with officers at the hospital and punched one in the chest. He refused to be fingerprinted while at police headquarters, according to police.

He was charged with assault of a police officer, failure to submit to fingerprinting, third-degree criminal mischief and breach of peace. He was held on $25,000 bail.
