The Middletown Police Department confirmed that Aaden Moreno, the 7-month-old son of Tony Moreno, entered the Connecticut River the night of Sunday, July 6, and is presumed to be dead.

Tony, a 22-year-old from Middletown and father of Aaden, called someone on the phone and talked about jumping off the Arrigoni Bridge in Middletown. The person Moreno spoke to told police they heard Aaden in the background.

Police reported seeing the man jump from the bridge but did not see Aaden. A search rescue occurred and is now being classified as a recovery.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call the Middletown Police Department at 860-638-4000.

The father was recovered from the river alive and sent to the hospital.

“Tony Moreno’s condition has been upgraded to stable,” Middletown police said. “He is alert and conscious.”
