Help St. Vincent DePaul feeding the hungry!

Good Samaritan Food Donation Act

Here is what the current needs are feeding the poor:

Left overs: The party’s over, but you still have good food you’d just hate to just throw away! Donate it to the the Soup Kitchen instead. You are protected under the Good Samaritan Food Donation Act and encouraged to donate of food and grocery products to us for distribution to individuals in need. Just bring the food to the Soup Kitchen, (side door) 617 Main Street, Middletown, between 7 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. You don’t even need to call.


Sleeping Bag Donations: Many of our guests need good, clean sleeping bags. Call Tracy Thompson, Administrative Assistant, 860-344-0097 ext. 10.

Tents: with the warming center now closed, SVDM is collecting tents for guests without shelter. Please bring your packaged tent to 617 Main Street, Middletown.

Toiletries (hygiene items) are needed year round, as well as during the Christmas season: mens’ and womens’ deodorant, shampoo, conditioner, tooth paste, tooth brushes, razors and shave cream. Please bring them to our office at 617 Main Street, Middletown, Monday through Friday, 8 to 3.

Stop & Shop gift cards in $10 and $20 amounts are also needed throughout the year to help people with specific needs.
