Hoodless 'Muscle Car' Does Doughnut Near Middletown Police Officer
A 45-year-old Middletown resident was issued a summons for reckless driving.

A Middletown police officer was driving his unmarked police cruiser on Saybrook Road just before 7 p.m. Aug. 20, when he saw an unexpected sight he described as “an older white muscle car” without its hood.
The car was in a nearby parking lot. The police officer turned into the parking lot and stopped his car.
“As I shut my vehicle off I heard the loud rev of a vehicle engine and tired squealing,” police said. “I looked in my rearview mirror and I saw the white ‘muscle’ car turning in a circle with its tires spinning, performing what is commonly known as a ‘doughnut’.”

The police officer turned on his lights and siren and followed the white car out of the parking lot as it drove south on Saybrook Road.
When Francis stopped the car and was asked for license, registration and insurance, he said he did not have his license with him, police said.
“Mr. Francis stated he knew what he had done was ‘stupid’ and apologized for it,” police said.
Francis was issued a misdemeanor summons for reckless driving.
