Man Arrested On Drug Charges: Middletown Police

Police have increased patrols and surveillance in the area after receiving complaints from residents about increased drug activity and sales

MIDDLETOWN, CT — A Middletown man was recently arrested on drug charges, according to police.

Detectives from the Middletown Police Street Crime Unit were conducting surveillance on Aug. 24 in the area of Main and Green streets, which police said is an area “known to have a significant amount of narcotics activity, including sales and usage.”

“In the past, detectives have made numerous arrests in this area related to both,” police wrote in a news release. “As of late, the Middletown Police Department has received additional narcotics complaints from local and neighboring residents, building management, and landlords in the area, which has resulted in an increase in police patrols and surveillance.”

Police said detectives saw Jabbar McDaniel, 28, conducting multiple narcotics sales in the area. Officers approached McDaniel, who police said “ignored all verbal commands” and ran away.

McDaniel is accused of discarding crack cocaine while he was running away, according to police.

Officers were able to stop and arrest McDaniel in the area of Liberty Street, police said.

Police said McDaniel was found to be in the possession of 33 bags of crack cocaine and a “large amount” of cash.

McDaniel was charged with sale of narcotic substance, possession of controlled substance, tampering with physical evidence and interfering with officer/resisting. He was released after posting a $150,000 bond with a court date of Sept. 8, according to state judicial records.
