Man Charged In Shooting In Middletown: Police

The man, who was fired at in a drive-by shooting, was found to have ditched a loaded stolen gun, according to police.

MIDDLETOWN, CT — A man was recently arrested in connection with a drive-by shooting in Middletown in November, according to police.

Police responded to the area of lower Washington Street near its intersection with DeKoven Drive on Nov. 3 on the report of a shooting.

An investigation found that a dark-colored vehicle pulled alongside another vehicle that was occupied by Zahrod Jackson and an acquaintance, according to police.

Police said the occupants of the dark vehicle fired multiple rounds into Jackson’s vehicle before fleeing the scene. Two of the rounds struck the occupant of Jackson’s vehicle, according to police.

Jackson later got out of his vehicle and discarded a loaded Tisas Zigana PX-9 handgun that was found by detectives and was later determined to be a stolen firearm, police said.

Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Jackson following a lengthy investigation and coordination between the Middletown Police Street Crime Unit and Major Investigations Unit, according to police.

Jackson, 28, of Middletown, was found by patrol officers on Jan. 26 and arrested on a warrant. He was charged with criminal possession of a firearm, criminal possession of ammunition, carrying pistol without a permit, tampering with physical evidence, interfering with an officer, and stealing a firearm.

Jackson was released after posting a $250,000 bond with a court date of March 1, according to state judicial records.
