Man Threatens to Kill Woman With Scissors; Stabs Her the Next Day: Police

One month later, Middletown resident Nina Coe was reported missing. A Middletown man, Gregory Erhardt, is a person-of-interest in the case.

Middletown resident Nina Coe, 56, pictured above, was reported missing on July 15, 2015. A Silver Alert was issued for her then and police released a reminder two weeks later.

In August, developments showed that a restraining order was filed by Coe, against a man she had a relationship with. In June, she filed for and received a restraining order against 55-year-old Middletown resident Gregory Erhardt of Labella Circle.

Coe reportedly said she was frightened.

On July 15 and July 31, Erhardt was arrested on a restraining order violation charge. He allegedly contacted Coe 43 times over a four-day period in July, prior to her silver alert, and admitted to police that he met her at a grocery store.

On Thursday, Oct. 15, Erhardt visited Middletown Court for his arraignment date for new charges related to Coe’s disappearance.

According to the Middletown Press, Erhardt now faces the following charges:

  • Reckless endangerment in the first degree
  • Assault in the second degree

A report from Middletown Police stated Erhardt allegedly stabbed Coe. At a court date earlier in the summer, Coe reportedly admitted to lying to protect the man.

A search of Coe’s home yielded the finding of blood on a mattress, according to a warrant. Coe’s daughter informed police officers that Erhardt allegedly held her mother against her will the night before the alleged stabbing and threatened to use scissors to kill her.

Coe is still missing. Anyone with information about Coe or where she may be is asked to call Middletown Police at 860-638-4000.
