Middletown Man Facing 4 Decades In Prison In Fed Meth Case
A Middletown man has entered a plea in a federal narcotics case.
MIDDLETOWN, CT — A Middletown man is facing a possible four decades in prison after a entering guilty plea in a federal narcotics case.
Vanessa Roberts Avery, United States attorney for the District of Connecticut and Stephen Belleau, acting special agent in charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration for New England, said Tuesday that Jason Febel, 46, of Middletown, entered the plea a day earlier before U.S. District Judge Omar A. Williams in Hartford to possession with intent to distribute 5 grams or more of methamphetamine.
According to court documents and statements made in court, on March 16, 2022, Fabel was arrested after the DEA conducted a court-authorized search of his Middletown residence. The raid yielded about 100 grams of methamphetamine, a "quantity" of ketamine, narcotics paraphernalia, and a loaded 9mm handgun, Avery said.

On April 27, 2023, while Fabel was released on bond and awaiting trial, he was arrested for violating conditions of his pretrial release. At the time of his arrest, he possessed about 24 grams of meth, 6 grams of ketamine, and 10 grams of MDMA, known ion the street as ecstasy, according to case records.
At sentencing, which is yet to be scheduled, Fabel faces a mandatory minimum prison term of five years and a maximum term of 40 years, Avery said.

He has been detained since April 27, 2023.
