Middletown Man Facing Kidnapping Charge In Plainfield: Police

A man was told by two assailants to enter a bank and withdraw money, police said.

PLAINFIELD, CT — A Middletown resident has been charged with kidnapping in Plainfield after a man was forced into a credit union to withdraw money, police said.

At 3:11 p.m., Plainfield police received a call that a man was being told to withdraw a large sum of money from the Core Plus Credit Union by two people waiting outside in a car, according to an incident report.

Officers arrived at the scene, located the vehicle and detained both the driver, identified in an incident report as 38-year-old Middletown resident David Matthews and a passenger, identified as Isabella Marcy, 23, of Norwich.

A search of the vehicle uncovered a large amount of narcotics, U.S. currency and drug paraphernalia, according to an incident report.

Marcy was charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance and a possession of a controlled substance. She was released on a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 12, police said.

Matthews was charged with second-degree kidnapping, possession of a controlled substance (three counts), the sale of a narcotic substance, the use of drug paraphernalia, operating a drug factory, second-degree threatening, second-degree breach of peace and attempted third-degree larceny, according to an incident report.

Matthews failed to post a $250,000 bond at his arraignment and was still in custody on Wednesday with a court date of Sept. 27, judicial system records show.
