MIDDLETOWN, CT — A Middletown mother and son have been reported missing after they didn’t return from a fishing trip off Block Island on Saturday, according to NBC Connecticut.
NBC affiliate WJAR in Rhode Island reports a search was underway on Monday for Linda Carman, 54, and her 22-year-old son Nathan after they left Ram's Point Marina in Point Judith on Saturday night on a 32-foot aluminum center console boat.
"Sector Southeastern New England issued an urgent marine information broadcast and launched a 45-foot rescue boat from Station Point Judith as well as a MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter and a HC-144 fixed wing aircraft from Air Station Cape Cod," the Coast Guard said in a news release on Monday. "In addition, the Block Island Harbormaster conducted searches in and around Block Island last night."

Monday’s search continued with the Coast Guard Cutter Bonito, Station Point Judith and aircraft from Air Station Cape Cod. The state Department of Environmental Management searched near southern Narragansett Bay.
Monty Monterio, a longtime friend of Linda Carman, told NBC 10 News that he hasn’t heard from her since Saturday. Monterio also told NBC News 10 that Linda and Nathan were going to try a new spot and told him she “doesn't know how to use the equipment on board” because Nathan typically operates the vessel.
