'Art for Haiti' Gallery Show

Saturday, August 6th ‘Art for Haiti’ 6-10pm.
Middletown painter Pierre Sylvain is part of the Art for Haiti gallery show, a portion of which support his native country. The showcase opening at Hartford’s ArtSpace, 555 Asylum Ave., on Saturday, August 6 from 6-10pm. Pierre’s colorful art adorns former oil drums converted into recycling cans along Middletown’s Main Street.

Artist Pierre Sylvain feels most at home in his home studio surrounded by his lively and colorful paintings of abstract figures and landscapes.

It’s there that the concept of a new show in the Capitol city, “Art for Haiti,” opening Saturday in Hartford, came to fruition.

Sylvain curated and contributed his paintings, and the work of all the artists, including young students at the nonprofit Epoch Arts in East Hampton, will in part benefit his native country.

The Caribbean country has suffered multiple challenges including natural disasters, political unrest and a struggling economy, as well as being a place of natural beauty.
