MIDDLETOWN, CT — The Middletown Police Department said it has increased. the enforcement of distracted driving laws as part of the national Put the Phone Away or Pay campaign.

According to the department's announcement, the enforcement effort will focus on drivers who are texting, using a handheld device, or otherwise not focused on the road.

Roving patrols will be utilized.

The message from police was direct: “If you’re texting, using a handheld device, or not focused on the road, you can expect to be stopped.”
