Middletown State Rep. Named 2015 Champion by Environmental Watchdog Group

"Protecting CT's state parks, open spaces and forests for future generations is a tremendous privilege and responsibility." - Matthew Lesser

State Rep. Matthew Lesser (D-Middletown) was recognized by the state’s leading environmental watchdog group, the Connecticut League of Conservation Voters (CTLCV), for being a 2015 Legislative Champion.

This is the third year in a row that Rep. Lesser has been recognized by the CTLCV as a Legislative Champion.

“Protecting Connecticut’s state parks, open spaces, and forests for future generations is a tremendous privilege and responsibility,” Lesser said. “It was my pleasure to work with environmental advocates this year on issues of land conveyance to ensure that Connecticut stays green and beautiful for years to come. I want to thank the Connecticut League of Conservation Voters for naming me a 2015 Legislative Champion and I look forward to working on more environmental issues impacting our state next session.”

The CTLCV called Rep. Lesser a “Leader on Land Conveyance,” for his work protecting over 100 acres of state land from private mining interests and from being converted into parking spaces.

“Representative Matt Lesser brings tremendous energy and passion to the fight for strong environmental protections in Connecticut,” said Lori Brown, CTLCV Executive Director. ”From his very first year in office, Representative Lesser quickly became one of our most relied upon champions on behalf of the environment. His stellar leadership over the years on such critical environmental issues as clean energy, wildlife, land use, and pesticides has earned him our highest praise as a 2015 Legislative Champion.”
