MIDDLETOWN, CT — A missing man with medical issues was located safe after a six-hour search in Middletown over the weekend, Westfield Fire officials said.

At about 8 p.m. Sunday, Westfield firefighters and Middletown police received a report about a missing elderly man with dementia who was believed to be in the area of the Camp Estate and Connecticut Forestry Association.

Early searches on foot, and with a MPD canine unit and an all-terrain vehicle were unsuccessful, fire officials said.

After dark, drone units with infrared capabilities were deployed, fire officials said.

After about three hours of searching a grid from the sky, a Connecticut state police bloodhound was called in.

The missing man was located at about 2 a.m. Monday in the woods of the Camp Estate and Connecticut Forestry Association near the 400 block of Ballfall Road, fire officials said.

The man in good health but was transported to Middlesex Hospital for evaluation, fire officials said.
