Obituary: Joseph A. Manzi, M.D., 92, of Middletown
Dr. Manzi was a general practitioner and anesthesiologist at Middlesex Hospital where he also served as President of the Medical Staff.
MIDDLETOWN, CT - (From Biega Funeral Home) Joseph A. Manzi, M.D., 92, of Middletown died Sunday, Dec. 20, 2020 at his home.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Kathleen (Nash) Manzi whom he married in Cobh, County Cork, Ireland in 1955.
Dr. Manzi arrived in Middletown as an intern in 1955.

He was a former general practitioner and a long-time attending anesthesiologist at Middlesex Hospital. He was a past President of the Medical Staff and Chairman of the Anesthesia Department at Middlesex Hospital.
Joe was born in the Bronx, New York to Joseph and Rosina (Furnaro) Manzi.

He was a graduate of Cardinal Hayes High School and Fordham University. He was an extremely proud graduate of University College Cork Faculty of Medicine, Cork, Ireland.
Joe’s joys in life were uncomplicated and direct. He valued being a physician, Palmer Field hotdogs, and an old reliable car.
He loved the New York Yankees, any available pasta or peanut butter, his various computers, the Dunkin Donuts drive-through, and his many friends.
Joe will be deeply missed by his family and friends. He had a singular ability to bring a calming clarity to most situations. His advice and counsel were sought and valued to the end by three generations of his family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Rosaleen Manzi of New York City, Richard Manzi of New York City, Clare Manzi of Middletown, and Joseph P. Manzi of Jakarta, Indonesia; two daughters-in-law, Phoebe Yeh of New York City and Easy Arisarwindha of Jakarta, Indonesia; son-in-law Vince Williams of Middletown; five grand-children, Sam Manzi, Greta Williams, Maeve Williams, Sofia Manzi and Isabella Manzi. He was predeceased by three brothers, Alexander, Mario and Ralph.
Due to the current circumstances with Covid-19 pandemic, funeral services will be private. There are no calling hours.
