Both parents told police that they drank numerous shots of vodka the previous night and didn't remember what happened in the morning.

MIDDLETOWN, CT — A Middletown couple was arrested Saturday morning after police say their 8-year-old son with autism was found walking around alone, naked from the waist down, and was nearly struck by a vehicle while crossing the street. The parents told officers that they had numerous shots of vodka the previous night and didn’t remember what happened in the morning, according to the police report.

At about 8:40 a.m. on Nov. 19, Middletown Police responded to East Street at the intersection of Ridgewood Road on the report of a young child in the roadway. Police received three separate 911 calls regarding the child, who was reportedly nearly struck by a vehicle, in the road, according to the police report.

Responding officers found that the child had already crossed the road and reported that he was naked from the waist down and his feet were muddy and grassy. Police also noted that the outside temperature was 40 degrees and the victim was located nearly a mile from his home.
