• Middletown Mayor Rejects Flock Safety Contract After Residents Raise Privacy Concerns (patch.com) — Middletown's mayor has decided not to sign a contract with Flock Safety after residents voiced strong concerns about surveillance, privacy, and civil liberties at a recent public hearing. Instead, the city will keep exploring other technologies for its drone program that aim to improve public safety without eroding trust in local government. Officials thanked residents and city staff for their input.
   

• Middlesex Hospital Vocal Chords Seeking New Members (hk-now.com) — If you love to sing, a long-running community chorus is inviting new members to rehearsals at St. Francis Church's Fox Parish Hall on Elm Street in Middletown starting August 25. The Middlesex Hospital Vocal Chords welcome all voice parts, no auditions required, as they prepare for a December holiday concert in Portland. Residents from Middletown and nearby towns can join through September 8.
