Presidential Candidate to Speak in Portland

The Green Party of Connecticut will hold a rally featuring presidential candidate Dr. Jill Stein, speaking on the topic of “A New Society, A New Economy: It’s in Our Hands.” The event takes place on Saturday, February 13, 2016, at noon at the Portland Waverly Senior Center, 7 Waverly Avenue, Portland, Connecticut.

The event will begin with a social hour, followed at 1:00 by local Green Party speakers. Dr. Stein is expected to arrive at 2:00 and discuss her campaign for President.

A physician, Dr. Stein was the Green Party nominee in 2012 and garnered more votes than any previous woman candidate for U.S. President. This year her campaign has already raised enough contributions to qualify for federal matching funds. She accepts no corporate PAC money.

The Green Party of Connecticut has elected candidates in New Haven, Hartford, New London and Windham. In 2016, over 40 Greens are officeholders, commissioners and officials in local Connecticut governments.
