Resident Rescued From Middletown House Fire

MIDDLETOWN, CT — A fire Monday night in Middletown left a home wrecked by flames and smoke, South Fire Department officials said.
The fire broke out at 11:10 p.m. at a home on Brooks Road.
Firefighters arrived at the scene and found a single story home with smoke billowing from the building, South Fire Department officials said.

While searching for a source, responders located a person who was unconscious on the first floor. After EMS care, the person is "expected to be OK," South Fire Department officials said.
The fire was located in the basement and crews extinguished the fire, South Fire Department officials said. The basement sustained heavy fire damage and smoke damage affected the remainder of the home, South Fire Department officials said.

There is no public water supply in the area and tankers were dispatched to the scene.
The incident is being investigated by South Fire District Fire Marshal's Office along with Middletown Police Department and the city's building department.
The family is temporarily displaced and the City of Middletown, Connecticut Government health department responded to assist.
