A Revolutionary War Encampment
Saturday, August 12 At The Mansfield House backyard

A Revolutionary War encampment being conducted by the 6th Connecticut Regiment of the Continental Line group of re-enactors on Saturday, August 12 from 10 to 4 in the Mansfield House backyard. Professor Richard Buel will be speaking at 11 about Middletown’s role in the war and its impact on the local citizenry. The electronic version of the Historical Observer is attached with details of this event and others in the coming months. You will be receiving the printed version shortly. There is also news about the awards that our exhibit, A Vanished Port: Middletown & the Caribbean, 1750-1824, will be receiving at the national conference of the American Association for State and Local History in September in Austin, Texas.
The exhibit will be in its present form until mid-January, at which time borrowed artifacts have to be returned to their lending institutions. A smaller version with our artifacts will continue after that. I urge you to see the exhibit if you have not already done so. Your eyes will be opened to a vital aspect of Middletown’s history.
