Cromwell Historical Society Christmas Open HouseBringing the Masterpieces of Christmas to Life! Saturday, December 121:00 to 4:00 in the afternoon and 6:00 to 8:00 in the evening “Illumination”Sunday, December 131:00 to 4:00 in the afternoon Tableaux Noël, the Cromwell Historical Society’s 2015 Christmas Open House celebrates works of art inspired by the traditions of Christmas. Seven rooms of the Stevens-Frisbie House will be decorated by members of the society and community: Juleps & Viragoes, the Living History department of the Society will greet guests in the front parlour, dressed in 19th century attire, and re-creating a Thomas Nast - Harpers Weekly engraving from 1863.
The Central Connecticut Community Women’s Club will draw their inspiration from Greg Olsen’s “Reason for the Season” in the music room while works of Thomas Kinkade illuminate the Frisbie Bed Room. The Cromwell High School History Club will present well known images of historic Cromwell – digitally updated and decorated for the season. The children of William Tylee Ranney’s “Sleigh Ride” will fill the Ranney Library - a room dedicated to the artist who was born in the Cromwell area when it was an extension of Middletown. The Friends of the Cromwell Belden Library will be presenting two paintings, “Sleigh Bells Too” and an original “Angel” painting by local artist Pat Branciforte. Complimentary refreshments will be served in the Dining Room.The evening hours on the 12th features a candle-light illumination of the house. While admission to Tableaux Noël is free, donations to benefit the work of the Cromwell Historical Society are most appreciated.
