Passenger Not Wearing Seatbelt Seriously Injured In Middletown Head-On Crash
Police in Middletown Monday were at the scene of a early afternoon head-on crash that left a passenger seriously hurt.

MIDDLETOWN, CT — A head-on crash left a passenger seriously hurt in Middletown Monday, police said.
The crash took place at 12:27 p.m. at the intersection of South Main Street and Highland Avenue, police said. When officers arrived at the scene, they encountered a red Dodge Dakota pickup and a black Honda CRV SUV that had crashed in the intersection, police said.
A female passenger in the Dodge had serious injuries to her head and neck that required immediate life-saving treatment by South District Fire personnel, police said.

She was quickly transported to Hartford Hospital and remained in critical condition late Monday afternoon. Police said she was not wearing a seatbelt.
Both drivers sustained minor injuries and were transported to Middlesex Hospital for treatment, police said.

A preliminary investigation showed that the Dodge was traveling southbound on South Main Street and the Honda CRV was traveling northbound, police said. The Honda then turned left into the path of the Dodge and both vehicles collided head-on in the intersection, police said.
The road was closed temporarily but re-opened Monday afternoon.
The occupants are not being identified at this time, police said.
