Special Election Announced In Middletown

The special election to fill the seat of late Middletown State Rep. Quentin "Q" Williams has been scheduled, Gov. Ned Lamont announced.

MIDDLETOWN, CT — The special election to fill the vacant seat of late Middletown State Rep. Quentin “Q” Williams will be held Tuesday, Feb. 28, Gov. Ned Lamont announced Monday.

Williams, 39, was killed Jan. 5 when his vehicle was struck by a wrong-way driver on Route 9 in Cromwell. The other driver was also killed in the crash.

Williams was a Democrat who represented Middletown in the 100th District.

Under state law, the governor is required to issue a writ of special election within 10 days of a seat in the General Assembly becoming vacant, and a special election must be held 46 days after the writ is issued.

Lamont also announced special elections to fill the vacancies of the 6th Assembly District, which consists of portions of Hartford and West Hartford and was most recently held by Edwin Vargas, and the 148th Assembly District, which consists of portions of Stamford and was most recently held by Daniel Fox.

Lamont issued the writs for each of these districts on Friday, Jan. 13.
