Two Men Attack Another At Bus Station After Demanding Money

THREE COUNTS FIRST-DEGREE FAILURE TO APPEAR — On June 7, Najawan Ward, 20, of Glover Place turned himself into police for an outstanding warrant from Aug. 5, 2008, on Main Street.
THIRD-DEGREE ASSAULT, CRIMINAL VIOLATION OF PROTECTIVE ORDER — On June 7, Sheila R. Riddick, 46, of Maple Street, was fighting with her boyfriend, who said she assaulted him. He had fresh marks on him and Riddick denied the assault.

PROBATION VIOLATION — On June 6, John D. Spiwak, 41, of East Main Street, Portland, turned himself into police on an outstanding warrant from a Main Street incident.
SECOND-DEGREE FAILURE TO APPEAR — On June 7, Blaine R. Gamble, 28, of Murray Street, Meriden, turned himself into police for an outstanding warrant for improper use of marker place, failure to display plates, and operating an unregistered motor vehicle.

TWO COUNTS PROBATION VIOLATION — On June 6, Benjamin P. Keegan, 23, of Chamberlain Hill Road, Higganum, turned himself into police on an outstanding warrant from Meriden.
DISORDERLY CONDUCT, INTERFERING WITH OFFICER, POSSESSION OF ALCOHOL BY MINOR — On June 1, Kayla N. Kramer, 19, of Deer Run Road, Colchester, was the driver of a car stopped at Middletown High School and had two partially full beer bottles in her car. She smelled of alcohol but insisted she had not been drinking. She failed three standardized field sobriety tests. When placed in the cruiser, she screamed and asked civilians passing by to let her out. She refused to exit the car to be handcuffed. She refused to listen to instructions, lay down on the cell floor and cried. She was sent to the hospital for evaluation. Later, she admitted to drinking at the beach earlier in the day while eating only cereal and yogurt.
OPERATING MOTOR VEHICLE WITH SUSPENDED DRIVERS LICENSE, AND WITHOUT INSURANCE — On June 1, Katie E. Pitts, 23, of Glastonbury Turnpike, Portland, was driving on Main Street with a brake light out.
POSSESSION CRACK COCAINE, AND WITHIN 1,500 FEET OF DAY CARE, SALE OF LESS THAN HALF-OUNCE CRACK, AND WITHIN 1,500 FEET OF DAY CARE — On May 27, police received a call from College Street on the report of two unwanted people. Cory A. Sumpter, 23, of Sterling Street, Hartford, was sitting in a bedroom with his hands in his pockets. Officers located 3.7 grams of crack cocaine in his pants, with a street value of $370.
SECOND-DEGREE BREACH OF PEACE, PANHANDLING, FIRST-DEGREE CRIMINAL TRESPASS — On May 25, a male victim was at the MAT Terminal on Main Street bleeding from a cut on his lip. He said he was headed home to New Haven and was jumped by two males, one, Shawn A. Jones, 31, of no fixed address, approached him and asked for money. The men followed him to the terminal and continued harassing him. Gregory D. Overton, 37, of Freestone Avenue, Portland, punched him in the mouth and fled on foot. Overton was apprehended at the scene and Jones was found. Witnesses said both men were intoxicated and police have seen them and warned them not to loiter at the MAT station.
FAILURE TO WEAR SEAT BELT, OPERATING MOTOR VEHICLE WITHOUT INSURANCE, AND UNREGISTERED MOTOR VEHICLE, MISUSE OF MARKER PLATE — On May 24, Gina Randazzo, 39, of Joelie Drive, Portland, was driving on Spring Street talking on her cell phone and not wearing a seat belt. The plate belonged to another car.
