'Violent' Convicted Felon Charged in Middletown Drug Bust: PD
Police say the suspect, who has a long history of arrests, was caught selling drugs in a Ruby Tuesday's parking lot.

MIDDLETOWN, CT — A man described by police as a “violent convicted felon” with a long history of arrests, was charged with selling cocaine to during a sting operation last Friday.
David Fountain Jr., 33, of 60 Yale Street in Meriden, was arrested by the Middletown Police Department’s Street Crimes/Narcotics Unit in the parking lot of Ruby Tuesday’s, 50 Shunpike Road in Cromwell, after allegedly selling an ounce of cocaine for $1,300 at about 4:15 p.m. on June 3.
The transaction was observed by eight Middletown police detectives and two detectives from Cromwell and police then converged on Fountain, who was taken into custody without incident, according to the police report.

Fountain, who has 25 previous convictions, was found to be in possession of three bags of cocaine, weighing 29.1 grams, two bags of crack cocaine (4.9 grams) and a marijuana cigarette, according to police.
Fountain also had three cell phones and $616 in cash, along with the $1,300 from the sale in the parking lot, according to police.

Police said the street value of the cocaine was around $5,820 and the crack cocaine would be sold at about $490.
Fountain’s cell phones were receiving “nonstop incoming calls from various phone numbers,” according to the report.
Police also seized an Acura and an iPhone during the arrest.
Fountain was also wanted on three active arrest warrants from the Middletown Street Crimes/Narcotics Unit.
Fountain was charged with two counts of sale of narcotics, sale of narcotics within 1,500 feet of a school zone, possession of narcotics, accessory to and conspiracy to sell narcotics, sale of more than an ounce of narcotics and possession of more than an ounce of narcotics with intent to sell. He was held on bonds totaling $437,500.
Fountain is on a two-year conditional discharge that started on Sept. 9, 2014, according to the police report.
Police say he is a “violent convicted felon” with 25 convictions, including six counts of possession of narcotics, violation of a protective order, strangulation, four counts of operating under suspension, four counts of violation of probation, two counts of interfering with a police officer, two counts of reckless driving, four counts of third-degree assault, two counts of assault on a police officer, evading responsibility, weapon in a motor vehicle, criminal impersonation, sixth-degree larceny, two counts of breach of peace, failure to appear, sale of narcotics and third-degree burglary.
