Woman Helped Hide Boyfriend Wanted In Shooting: Middletown Police
The woman is accused of hiding her boyfriend for several months and helping him avoid capture in connection with the shooting, police said.
MIDDLETOWN, CT — A woman is accused of helping to hide her boyfriend who was wanted in connection with a shooting in Middletown last May, according to police.
Police said the shooting happened May 15 at the Traverse Square housing complex in Middletown. Officers determined that two people exchanged gunfire during the middle of the day in the parking lot with “multiple innocent bystanders in the area,” according to police.
“Multiple fired rounds struck parked vehicles, residences, and one entered the bedroom and mattress of a 7-year-old child,” police wrote in a news release.”

Police obtained arrest warrants for the two shooting suspects. Kenneth Fountain Sr., 44, was arrested May 23 and held in lieu of a $750,000 bond, according to police.
Nahkyn Durazzo, 22, was found Aug. 31 after an “extensive statewide search,” police said. He was held in lieu of a $1.5 million bond.

During the investigation, police found that 24-year-old Evahna McDaniel had been dating Durazzo and “for several months had actively been hiding him and assisting him in avoiding capture, as well as attempting to mislead police,” according to the news release.
McDaniel, of Middletown, was arrested Jan. 18 and charged with second-degree hindering prosecution. She was released after posting a $100,000 bond with a court date of Feb. 1.
