Yellow Lab Still Running Loose in Middletown

Animal Control is asking people not to try and capture the dog and report any sightings.

For almost a week, a yellow Lab has been spotted in Middletown, prompting people to report sightings on the Middletown Animal Control Facebook page and via phone.

Anyone who sees the dog is asked to call Animal Control at 860-638-4030. On Monday, Jan. 12, the Middletown animal control officer shared the following information via Facebook:

  • We do not think this is Jake from Redding
  • We initially posted the dog in hopes that someone would respond that was missing him but that has not happened
  • We still have no idea where he is missing from
  • We want people to report sightings to us so we know that he is still in the area
  • We do not want anyone else to try to capture him because we do not want to scare him away
  • He seems to be staying in the area around Ridgewood Road/East Street in Middletown
  • We are feeding him with the hopes of keeping him healthy and fat and in the area

“We appreciate your suggestions, however, we have dealt with this before and have learned some valuable lessons in capturing a terrified dog,” the ACO wrote. “The most important thing is PATIENCE. Please continue to report sightings to us and we will do our best to keep updating with progress. 860-638-4030.”
