CONNECTICUT — I'm not sure if this will be a welcomed distraction or not but it appears the entire state will see snowflakes on Monday and it's even possible that there may be some light snow accumulation away from the coast.

As of right now, and we know things can always change, it appears little to no accumulation of snow along the I-95 corridor, an inch or two away from the coast and possibly three inches in the northern most parts of the state. Just north of Connecticut three inches or more of snow is expected.

The National Weather Service says for northern Connecticut to expect a "Burst of snow Monday afternoon changes to rain Monday evening except across higher elevations. Another round of rain/snow Wednesday into Thursday but snow should be limited to higher elevations."

"For hills farther (south) including N CT, should be a few hours of accumulating snow with 2-4" possible. Closer to coast, expect slushy inch or two, mainly on grass unless snowfall rate can overcome warm pavement temps (which may be tough to do)," the weather service said.

"Based upon collaboration with WPC and neighboring offices we will hold off on any winter headlines since there is still uncertainty in track of low. If things remain the same on future model runs, we will probably be looking at an Advisory-level event."

Southern Connecticut Snow, Rain Forecast For Monday

"This low will track northeast Monday into Tuesday bringing a wintry mix of rain and snow across the area. The precipitation with this system is expected to arrive early Monday morning and begin as a period of snow/wintry mix across the interior ... With models trending warmer during the overnight Sunday into Monday, have lowered snow amounts slightly across the interior to 1-3 inches....

"Thermal profiles support a transition to all rain by Monday afternoon where we could see a period of moderate rainfall. Storm total rainfall amounts will range between .5 to 1.5 inches by the
time the low pulls out on Tuesday morning," the weather service said. (To sign up for free, local breaking news alerts from more than 100 Connecticut communities, click here.)
