Capturing Joy w/Milford Photographer Brooke Allison
Brooke Allison Photography is a member of the Wedding Loft in Downtown Milford. We recently spoke with Brooke about buying new gadgets and the joy of photography.
How did you first get involved in photography?
My husband purchased a digital camera for me as a gift and encouraged me to make sure I learned how to use it/at least knew how to turn it on.

I signed up for Robert Harrington's adult education class and came home from my first class and proclaimed to my husband that "one day I was going to be a wedding photographer."
I think we both chuckled that night. Here I am, four years later, really, really happy to be doing something I love.

What is your latest project?
Spring is finally here so I'm busy with a lot of children, newborn/maternity and wedding shoots but I'm working on an editorial photo shoot happening in May that involves a talented group of CT and NY wedding vendors. It should be really beautiful and unique!
What advice do you wish you'd received when you first got started?
I wish someone had warned me that you'll end up buying a lot of stuff! I bought more trinkets and gadgets when I started out that I never used and will probably never use. Of course, part of my job is to have a variety of dependable equipment but it's really easy to get sucked into wanting every new gadget out there!
What is your favorite part of helping people who are about to get married?
Really, my job is centered around one thing; joy. I spend my weekends with couples who are nothing but joyful - and I get to capture that joy for them to look back on in photos. If you can tell me something better than that, let me know!
