West Shore Student Seriously Injured After Being Struck by Car in Milford: UPDATE
The accident occurred Tuesday morning. The teen was trying to cross the road and was on his way to school.

MILFORD, CT — A 14-year-old suffered serious injuries after being struck by a car on Route 1 in Devon, a top fire official said.
Battalion Chief Anthony Fabrizi said the teen was struck by a passenger vehicle at 7:25 a.m. at the intersection of Bridgeport Avenue and Camden Street. The child was reportedly attempting to cross the roadway when the incident occurred, Fabrizi said.
Two Milford Firefighter/Paramedics were in the area and quickly arrived on scene to render patient care. Additional units were dispatched to assist.

The patient was treated on scene for potentially serious injuries and transported to Yale Trauma Center under the care of Milford Fire Paramedics, Fabrizi said. Milford Police were on scene to conduct their investigation.
Regarding the motor vehicle this morning involving a West Shore Middle School student, Principal Paul Cavanna sent the following message to West Shore families:

“I just wanted to follow up with all of you regarding the motor vehicle accident today involving one of our students. We met with the student and his family at the hospital. The student is listed in stable condition and is being cared for by hospital staff. We would like to thank our emergency responders for their efforts and all of you for your support," Cavanna said.
A similar incident occurred less than 48 hours earlier on the same stretch of road in the Devon area. On Sunday night a 34-year-old Stratford woman was struck by a passenger vehicle in the area of Bridgeport Avenue and Woodland Drive.

That patient was treated on scene by Milford Fire Paramedics and transported to Bridgeport Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
"The Milford Fire Department would like to express the importance of using designated cross walks and signaling devices when attempting to cross a roadway. Schools are now in session, and driver's need to remain alert for bus pickups/drop-offs and children crossing the roadway," Fabrizi said.
Original story: MILFORD, CT — A child was struck by a car on Route 1 Tuesday morning near Camden Street, NBC Connecticut reports.
The accident occurred around 7:45 a.m. and Route 1 near Camden Street was originally closed for about an hour, but as of 9:25 a.m. has been reopened, according to Milford police.
Police also said the child was taken to an emergency room by family members for precautionary evaluation.
