CT Gov. Ned Lamont Discusses Coronavirus With CNN's Wolf Blitzer
Lamont explained what would be the biggest mistake we could make as the state and country concerning the coronavirus.
CONNECTICUT — Gov. Ned Lamont appeared on CNN’s ‘The Situation Room’ with Wolf Blitzer Tuesday evening where he discussed how potentially good news could inevitably lead to bad news for the state and country if we are not careful.
Blitzer opened the interview by telling Lamont that the CDC is now saying that the death toll from the coronavirus may be much lower than initial projections feared and that is largely because most people are taking social-distancing seriously.
Blitzer asked Lamont if this “potential good news” could lead to problems.

“You’ve got to follow those guidelines,” Lamont said emphatically of social-distancing. “The social-distancing is maybe flattening the curve a bit.”
He said now is not the time to pull back on social-distancing efforts. He said we must remain patient and refrain from trying to rush the process.

“Our hospitalizations are beginning to flatten out, in terms of the rate of increase, and that’s invaluable to protect the capacity in our hospitals,” Lamont said. “Now is the time to double down on your social distancing.”
He added, “This is no time to sing happy days are here.”
He said he spoke with New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo Tuesday and they discussed how they will need to get the workforce tested and back to work when it’s safe to do so. Lamont said it will be vital to test people to find out who can get back to work first.
On Tuesday, Lamont said Connecticut, New York and New Jersey will work on a tri-state approach to testing. (To sign up for free, local breaking news alerts from more than 100 Connecticut communities, click here.)
He said we’re nowhere near ready to talk about a return to normalcy and “what worries me is if we take our eye off the ball and a second wave of this” hits again in the fall.
