Downtown Milford Gets Spooky
The day features story time with the library, music with radio personality Brian Smith, a creepy-crawly mystery table, and costume contests.

From Downtown Milford: The Downtown Milford Business Association is hosting their annual Hall-O-Weekend 2018 and invites families and children to come make memories and enjoy some not-so-scary fun in charming downtown Milford.
Scheduled for Saturday, October 27, from 10 am – 2 pm, Hall-O-Weekend is designed to bring families together for a day of silly fun. Participating shop windows are getting a Halloween-themed makeover from students at Platt Tech and opening their doors for trick-or-treaters from noon until 2 pm, inviting visitors to vote for their favorite painted window while they are at it. The day features story time with Milford Public Library, music with radio personality Brian Smith, a creepy-crawly mystery table, costume contests for all age groups (even pets), vendors, food trucks, healthy snacks sponsored by Stop and Shop of Milford, and more.
New for this year, the DMBA is teaming up with the city’s Green Halloween initiative — a campaign to promote sustainability with the city. The City will be giving away free reusable grocery bags in conjunction with the Milford Environmental Protection Initiative at the event, and Duck Duck Goose Children’s Boutique will feature a green-themed Halloween window display.
“Halloween and New England go hand-in-hand,” said Tracy Bonosconi, DMBA President. “Downtown is such a wonderful resource to bring families together and make the memories that last a lifetime.”
The DMBA’s mission is to bring attention to the downtown landscape and all the unique amenities it has to offer both residents and day visitors. Downtown Milford has enjoyed a resurgence of new shops, salons, and restaurants along with established local favorites. Located right on the harbor, the historic downtown is a destination long known by locals and surrounding communities for its New England charm and easy access to area beaches.
Hall-O-Weekend is scheduled from 10 am – 2 pm on Saturday, Oct. 27, and takes place in the downtown Milford business district. Those looking to enter the costume contest can register for $1 per person. Decorated windows include: Cafe Atlantique, Duck Duck Goose, Eli’s Taven, Lovet Shop, Vincent’s Jewelers, Whispers, Scratch Baking, and Colony Pizza. Trick or treat stops include: Canvas Patch, Duck Duck Goose, Eli’s Taven, Gingerbread House, Hawkwood Games, Island Time, Lovet Shop, Milford Photo, Sophie Claire’s, Vincent’s Jewelers, Whisper’s, and Colony Pizza.
