​Elizabeth “Betty” B. Lopez, 83, of Milford, passed away on January 24

A brave trailblazer, Betty played a pivotal role in the lives of so many. She will be sorely missed, but never forgotten.

Elizabeth “Betty” B. Lopez, 83, of Milford, beloved wife of the late Nestor F. Lopez, passed away on January 24, 2023. Born on October 5, 1939 in Glasgow, Scotland, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Sedania Reader.

Betty emigrated from Glasgow in 1962, taking residence in Milford as an au pair. It was a few years later that she would meet and soon marry her beloved Nestor. Betty would soon become an American citizen and the Lopez’s settled down in the Bayview area of Milford where they raised their own family.

Betty was a strong woman and a hard worker. She was a skilled seamstress, but also worked at Burndy Electrical Connectors. In the 80’s she found her calling as a bus driver for Winkel Bus Company. She spent many years driving all ages to and from school and transporting Foran High Athletics teams around the state. A brave trailblazer, Betty played a pivotal role in the lives of so many. She will be sorely missed, but never forgotten.

Betty leaves behind her sons Francisco Daniel Lopez and his wife, Julie Ann, and Alexander Nestor Lopez and his wife, Melanie Ann; cherished grandchildren, Nestor, Delsie, Ava, and Amalia Lopez; brother, Brian Reader and his wife, Jenny; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. She was predeceased by several brothers and sisters.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Thursday, February 2, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad Street, Milford. A Memorial Service will begin at the conclusion of calling hours that day. Interment will be private.
