Extreme Heat Warning Issued, Milford Opens Cooling Centers

MILFORD, CT — Due to the extreme heat, the state is enacting its protocol beginning Tuesday and remaining in effect until Friday.

Milford will have cooling centers available during that time.

Governor Ned Lamont announced that due to a weather forecast indicating that Connecticut will experience a multi-day stretch of exceptionally hot and humid conditions, he is directing Connecticut’s Extreme Hot Weather Protocol to be activated effective at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, and remaining in effect through at least 8:00 p.m. on Friday, July 18, 2025.

Cooling centers will be available throughout the state. Anyone in need of a place to get out of the heat can locate their nearest cooling center by viewing the list that will be published online at 211ct.org or calling 2-1-1.

The following are designated Cooling Centers and hours of operation in Milford.

Beth-El Cooling Center Hours
90 New Haven Avenue

Each day in the Community Kitchen from the hours of 8 am until the end of dinner meal service (around 6 or 7 pm).

Milford Public Library Hours
57 New Haven Avenue:

Monday: 10 am - 5 pm

Tuesday: 10 am - 8 :30 pm

Wednesday: 10 am - 8:30 pm

Thursday: 10 am - 8:30 pm

Friday: 1 pm - 5 pm

Saturday: 10 am - 5 pm

Sunday: CLOSED

Senior Center Hours
9 Jepson Drive

Regular Cooling: Monday- Friday 9 AM – 4 PM

Governor/ City Declared Cooling: Mon- Fri 8:30 AM – 5 PM
